Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with critical illnesses. Doctors and nurses report that the experience of a wish — meeting a hero, traveling somewhere magical, becoming someone for a day — measurably improves a child's physical and mental health.
Each wish costs approximately $10,000 to grant. Brady's goal of $1,000,000 funds 100 of them. 30 wishes are already funded. 70 more to go.
From a Hospital Bed
to 1,553 Miles.
Three years ago, Brady McDonald wasn't a runner. He quit drinking, decided he wanted to be someone his daughters could look up to, and signed up for a 50-mile race in the Florida Keys.
He won it. Three days later he was in a hospital bed fighting rhabdomyolysis. His wife Kristy told him he was never running again.
He came home and signed up for a 100-miler. Raised $93,000. Kept going. The Moab 240. The Arizona Monster 300 — 300 miles, 130 consecutive hours, $300,000 raised for Make-A-Wish.
Somewhere in the middle of all that suffering, Brady realized the legs he'd built were never supposed to be about his ego. They were supposed to be about the children who couldn't leave their hospital beds. That's the moment Zero to 100 Wishes was born.
